QCF Qualifications(formally NVQ)
The QCF is work-related, competence-based qualifications that focus on the
job in hand
The QCF is not a training programme but an assessment of a person's skills,
knowledge and ability. QCFs put learning into practice and show what an employee
can do as well as what they know. QCFs are based on standards of work
performance. Individuals are measured against standards that have been set at a
national level by industry specialists and describe what competent people in a
particular occupation are expected to be able to do. They cover all the main
aspects of an occupation, including current best practice, the ability to adapt
to future requirements and the knowledge and understanding that underpin
performance.
QCFs are suitable for all ages and levels and disciplines
QCFs are designed for anyone at any age or stage of their career, ranging from
foundation level 1 through to senior management level 8. Giving people the
opportunity to work towards QCF qualifications not only broadens their horizons
and helps them gain recognition, but enables the organisation to benefit from
the skills to match the ever-changing demands of business.
